Hawaii is a very rainy State. Groundwater seeps through the porous Volcanic Rock into hot Lava, boils, and creates the steam we see.

Eric and I reminisce about our visit to Masaya Volcano in Nicaragua in December 2012. Masaya is a Shield Volcano, like Kilauea and other Hawaiian Volcanoes.

Stefan drives past Kilauea
Established in 1898 the Camp is the first Military Construction in Hawaii. It was used for Off Base Recreation in the early 1900s. During World War II this remote Military Installation was used as a Japanese Internment Camp. It is now a Hotel.
Our next stop is the Steam Vents.
