The King Kamehameha I

Hale, Hawaii's State

 Supreme Court.

Completed in 1874

King Kamehameha I unified

the Hawaiian Islands into one

Royal Kingdom in 1810.

The 18-foot-tall statue faces

the Iolani Palace, built in

1882.

This is the only Royal Palace in the United States.  And Iolani Palace was the seat of the Territorial Government before Hawaii became a State in 1959.

The Coronation Gazebo was

built for the coronation of

Kalakaua & Queen Kapiolani

in 1883.

formed in 1836, is giving

Completed in 1871, the Barracks

housed the Royal Guard.

A Banyan Tree grows

near the Palace.

This fascinating tree grows wider as its Aerial Roots sprout branches that reach the ground allowing the tree to grow wider and wider.

A Rooster forages for food

nearby.

Chicken Coops were destroyed during Hurricane Iniki (1992), the most costly storm in modern Hawaiian history.  Roosters and Chickens are seen all over the Hawaiian Islands.  For some reason, they congregate around parking lots.  I think it's because they pick up tidbits dropped by humans.

This statue of Queen Lili'uokalani

faces the Hawaiian Capitol.

She symbolizes the character &

spirit of Hawaii & its people.
