Midnight @ The Oasis Car Show in Yuma, Arizona: The Dragster

In the late 1890s Car manufacturing started in the US and some people wanted to go faster...  Cars were modified to produce more speed.

By the 1930s a dedicated group of drivers started taking their cars to dry lake beds in California to race at speeds over 100 miles per hour.

The National Hot Rod Association was formed in 1951 and Drag Racing grew out of conventional Hot Rod racing.  Two cars line up at a starting line on a 1/4 mile long track and rev their engines for fast starts.  The competitors start their race at the same time and the Driver with the fastest time wins.

As Drag Racing developed, new configurations were developed to race at higher speeds.

This one has a 1962 Chrysler

This is the first time I've seen a Dragster at a Car Show.  I like it!

It's an example of an early design
of Dragsters.

This is the closest I've ever been to a Dragster.  I want to see Drag Racing live and am adding attending a Drag Racing event to my Bucket List.
