Strolling Around Downtown Jefferson, Ohio

Welcome to the

The Village Gazebo

A statue of a Union Soldier stands
in front of the Ashtabula County

It has been listed on The National

This is the second Ashtabula County Courthouse.  The county government outgrew the first one constructed in 1811.  This larger building was constructed in 1836.  A fire burned it to the ground in 1850, leaving only its brick walls.  The building's roof was restored and there were repairs inside and out with the reopening on July 4, 1851.  A third floor was added and repairs were made in 1891.

Eric and I admire the late 18th and early 19th Century buildings in downtown Jefferson.

This brick building was built
in 1870 by J. M. Waters.

Many of the buildings in
Downtown Jefferson were
built in the early 1900s.

Bricks are used to create
facade decorations.

This building has an ornate
cornice & brick ornamentation.

The Jefferson Diner

Other buildings downtown have
ornamental cornice work.

The Village's preservation of older buildings shows respect for local history.

This Blue Star Memorial for Armed
 Service Members is sponsored by
Village of Jefferson & the

Classy Consignments has
a Mini Foosball Game &
Mini Pool Table in the
front window.

I'm glad Eric and I decided to stop and take a stroll around Jefferson's quaint, walkable downtown.
