Day Tripping in Western Arizona: Cool Springs Camp




Eric & I continue our Day Trip...








... on Route 66.

This section is also
a Scenic Route.





Ed's Camp has seen
better days.





Let's stop at Cool Springs Camp.








It was an important stop on Route 66 for many years.  In the mid-1960s, it burned to the ground.






Rusting hulks of old cars





Raw Rock Creations has
a Creation Station.











I think this is where the
museum is located. 




I'm going to take my time
looking over the vintage
Gas Station awning with
old Gas Pumps.






Rock is an abundant building material out here.  I'm not surprised to see it used for a Gas Station.






The Gas Pumps are from 






The decaying stone pillars must have inspired someone.  Cold Springs Camp was used in a scene of Universal Soldier in 1991 (film release date: 1992).



I wonder what the mechanism
in the red box is.

It sits next to a wheelbarrow
& a metal tub.

There's comfortable seating
with a gas sign & tires.

Cold Springs Camp was rebuilt in 2004 and again provides snacks and souvenirs to passersby.

We picked up a bottle for
our son, Adam, with a 
bag of Route 66 Jerky.


Shhhh............   Don't tell Adam!
