Changes Happen Fast in the Age of Covid-19: Gallup, NM

Eric & I overnighted in Gallup, New Mexico
about three weeks ago.

This morning, May 2, 2020, I was shocked to read this CNN Headline:  All Roads Into Gallup, NM Have Been Closed: The Governor Invoked the State's Riot Act Because Coronavirus "Is Running Amok"  This City of 21,605 has 1,027 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 30% of the State's Coronavirus Cases.  Governor Lujan Grisham has closed Gallup off from the rest of the world; put a curfew in place; and set rules about how many people can ride in a car - two.

As has been stated ad nauseam, the Covid-19 Virus spreads easily.  People can spread the Virus before they have symptoms.  Gallup is now suffering terribly from this disease.  I hope that The Curve Can Be Flattened and the City can move forward safely.

*** Update: The lockdown, due to end on Monday, May 4th at noon has been extended to at least Thursday, May 7th.

Why is Gallup a Covid-19 Hot Spot?  Thousands from rural areas and Indian Reservations shop and duse services in Gallup, allowing for easy spread across McKinley County.
