Our Drive on Apache Trail to Tortilla Flat, Arizona

Eric planned a day trip to Roosevelt Dam, with stops at Tortilla Flat, Punkin Center, with stops at Jake's Corner Bar and Camp Reno.

Eric follows Arizona State
Route 88 East (Apache
Trail).

I start taking pictures...

Drivers share the road
with Horses.

We drive past Goldfield

That's Canyon Lake
up ahead.

We cross the first of several
one-lane bridges.

There's a Marina below

This is my favorite photo
from today's drive.

This rock formation reminds
me of a bottom molar.

Eric explains to me that the
road crew is pumping
concrete to a site
below the roadbed.

The view from a roadside pull-off.  We can see rugged
terrain for miles & miles.

The road passes by a
"moldy" rock formation.

Today's Fire Risk Chart is
pointed to Medium.

We turn for Canyon

section of the Salt River created
this lake.

I'm amazed that some of the rock along this river is found in the Dripping Springs near Quartzsite.

Tortilla Flat is two ahead.

Tape covers the names &
distances to other towns,
& there's a Road Closed
sign.

This formation reminds me of
El Capitan in Guadalupe
Mountain National Park.

Trucks block the road to the
East.

Work crews are removing
debris from the affected site.

Eric finds a place to park.  Let's go explore Tortilla Flat.  Punkin Flat, Jake's Corner Bar and Camp Reno will have to wait until after the road reopens.
