Touring Barney Smith's Toilet Seat Museum in San Antonio

While "tooling around" on the internet for a museum, I found Barney Smith's Toilet Seat Museum.  This type of attraction is irresistible, so I called and made an appointment with the owner.

Eric, outside Barney Smith's
Museum.

Barney, age 96, leaves his house, walks slowly to the Museum (his garage) and opens the left hand door.

I put out M & M figures
that signal the Museum
is open for tours.

An Oscar Statue that states,
"Barney Smith, King of the
Commode," sits atop
The Toilet Seat Artist's
Museum sign.

Barney tells us that this
is the oldest Toilet Seat
in his collection, dating
to the1800s.

Slivers, anyone?

Barney points to specific Toilet
Seats with his Bamboo Cane
as he shows Eric around
his Museum.

Toilet Seat.

I remember the May 18, 1980
eruption & its devastation.

Do you remember where you
were when The Challenger
exploded, shortly after takeoff
on January 28, 1986?

I was home with Adam, age three and a half and Diane, who just turned one earlier in the month.

The door of the Museum
is exhibit space.

Barney keeps a catalog
of his creations, starting
with...

... Dog Tags.

Barney continues to create themed Toilet Seat Art.  Each piece takes ten or more hours.

At 96, Barney is making plans.  He wants to sell the Toilet Seat Museum.
