Visiting the Walmart Neighborhood Market on State Street in Schenectady, New York

Walmart hasn't been hitting its sales goals over the last few years.  Big box stores are struggling.  The company's response has been to open Walmart Neighborhood Markets.
These smaller stores stock items that are needed on a regular basis.

This store is about the same size as a Tops Market.  It has all the items shoppers expect to find in a grocery store.

Deli & Bakery are next to
each other in this small
store.

Walmart expects the Neighborhood Markets to compete with Family Dollar and Dollar General stores.  Neighborhood Markets stock larger range of products than are found in dollar stores. Customers can fill prescriptions here, a service not available in dollar stores.
