Our Visit to the Trans Alaska Pipeline in Fairbanks, Alaska

Just outside of Fairbanks is
a turnout for the Trans
Alaskan Pipeline.

The Trans Alaska Pipeline carries
oil from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez.

Built from 1975 to 1977, the Trans Alaska Pipeline is 800 miles long.

Eric "touches" the pipeline
with his umbrella.

Instructions not to climb on the
pipeline & what to do when
reporting a pipeline rupture.

This device is called a pig.

It & others lie it are sent
through the pipeline to
clean build up in the pipeline.

This is what it looks like
when the pig is sent through
the pipeline.

Stretching as much as I
can to touch the pipeline.

Eric actually touches the
pipeline.

420 miles of the pipeline
run above ground.

The pipeline goes underground.

380 miles of pipeline run underground.
