Dinner in the Officers' Mess at Fort Henry in Kingston, Ontario

Fort Henry has several dining rooms available
to groups for dinners.  Fellow Escapees are
meeting at the fort for dinner in the
Officers' Mess.

The bagpiper plays a tune...

A soldier drills
young children.

Eric, Marg & Bill Merpaw
chat as we wait to go
into dinner.

The Ante Room, where
we gather for dinner.

A full bar is available
 for our group.

The dining room
is set.

We are seated
for dinner.

There are a few rules...
Because we are assumed to be
officers in the Officers' Mess,
no one can say please or
thank you to the waiters.

Anyone wishing to leave the
table must ask permission.

The Captain of the Officers' Mess,
Bill Woodside, grants permission
to leave the table & can penalize
individuals for infractions.

John listens to the
evening's menu.

I chose Turnip Soup
spiced with curry as
my appetizer.

My entree was Salmon &
a Rice Cake with Vegetables.

For dessert: Strawberry Shortcake

We all had a wonderful time at dinner.  I asked permission of the Captain on the Mess to leave the table.  Eric was caught in an infraction.  He was heard saying, "please."  His penalty:  Standing and reciting the nursery rhyme, Three Blind Mice.
