San Juan del Sur Is Just Twenty Minutes Away

Eric and I decided to go to San Juan del Sur for breakfast.  It's just twenty minutes away.  After parking the car by the beach, we wandered the village until we found El Gato Negro (The Black Cat) Bookstore and Coffeehouse.

Free refills on regular coffee &
yummy breakfast sandwiches
(Crispy bacon, how I missed you!)
The free wifi was a bonus.

This is a very easy village to navigate.  It's uphill from the beach, so go to a cross
street and find the water and use it to orient yourself.

Many of the businesses
have "eye candy" facades.

The prettiest bus
in town

We save time when we go to
tourist offices like Casa Oro.

Ben Salmon-Lord gave us great recommendations for restaurants.
He is from Manchester, England and spent his first month in
San Jan del Sur with an Nicaraguan family while he studied Spanish.

This house has the most interesting
metalwork covering its windows.

Mario and Wii games
are everywhere!

We found the library &
had a chat with the librarian.

It's time for a cool drink
& some more free wifi
Bob's the owner.

This building reminds me
of Woodstock, NY.

This beach side restaurant
is a stand out....

It has a swing set near the
tables for the kids to enjoy.

Lunch at El Timon,
 as Ben recommended.

Fried plantains & tortilla chips
with sauces and Jamaican Tea.

Grilled shrimp with
vegetables & rice.

We returned with our friends Emma, Julian, Susan and Richard for dinner
at Meson Espanol for Paella & wine.

Wow!  This is Paella.

This is a great meal to
share with friends.
