Our Day in Cheyenne, Wyoming Includes Touring the State Capitol

Eric and I were up and out by 8:15 am.  We planned on giving blood at the local Red Cross
.

The Red Cross has no
blood collection in Wyoming.
Its functions are education,
disaster assistance and
connecting military
 with their families.

Wyoming Territorial leadership was forward thinking when it came to establishing a State Capitol.  The Territorial Governor petitioned to start a building before statehood was established.  The cornerstone was laid in 1886 and construction finished in 1890, the year Wyoming was admitted to statehood.

Again, this Capitol reminds me
of the Capitol in Washington, DC.

We toured with two
Gifted & Talented
Classes from
Casper, WY,
Grades 3 to 5.

Our tour guide, Lynette,
took this photo of us &
the Capitol's buffalo.

I took this pic after we
left the Capitol.

is less than a block away
from the State Capitol.

This boot stands at
the front door of
the State Museum.

There's a great hands
on area for small children.

Wyoming celebrates
its archeological finds.

This sheep wagon was a
wedding gift...  It has a bed,
stove for heat and cooking,
shelves, a tiny table...
The first RV.

Portable dental chair
from the 1800s.

The gun on the left is called
a pocket rifle.  One screw
holds the metal stock onto
the wooden pistol handle.

  1. I think it is a requirement that all state capitols be under construction at all times. - Geoff

  2. I agree. State Capitols are never ending public works projects.
