Driving Southwest to Hattiesburg, Mississippi

Eric drives to the ramp for
Bypass Road around
Birmingham, Alabama.

I like the arced ornamentation
on this section of I 459 South.

This could be the last time
grass is mowed this fall.

Cones alert drivers to the
broken Guide Rail.

A Logging Truck & a
Tractor Trailer towing
three Tractor Trailers.

Welcome to Mississippi

The Birthplace of America's Music

Fall colors...

Following signs to
Interstate 59 South.

Cattle graze in fields
 near the highway.

The broken highway sign.

Eric says that the sign broke off at the Hinge.  This is a term used to describe where the posts behind a large sign are joined to the posts that have been driven into the ground to hold up the sign.

The bolts join the two
 sections of posts together
at the HInge Point.

This Marathon Gas Station
was chosen because it has
Truck Lanes.

Eric starts fueling at Pump 11.

The Diesel dribbles out slooowly.

He stops pumping fuel & reports
this faulty pump to an Attendant.

We are moved to a pump
beneath the awning to
continue fueling.

The Attendant promised to report the poorly functioning pump.

Here's our Exit to
 US 98 West

We are spending the night at
before continuing Southwest.
