Downtown Columbus, Texas

Columbus, Texas: All Roads Lead to Columbus on the Colorado

This mural is filled with wry humor...

Paddle Wheel Boat
towing a
Water Skiier

An 1800s woman
uses a Selfie Stick
to take a pic.

The Night-Life
is filled with
gunfights.

Sam Houston
rides a Hog
through town.

Our friend, Jim Wakeman, combines elements from different time periods and humor into many of his paintings.

Columbus State Bank,
founded in 1919 has
been preserved as a
historic landmark.

Columbus is the County Seat of Colorado County.

was built in 1891.

This is the Old Water Tower.

Built in 1883, the first floor
addition housed the
horse-drawn Fire Truck.

It now houses the War Memorial

in 1886.

Mr. Stafford also built this ornate
Victorian house, next to the
Operahouse in 1886.

He could watch performances
from his bedroom window.

I would love to know what
OOF means on this building.

The Lawyer's Building
is now Southern Flair
on the Square.

Against the Grain
Farm to Market

Building was built in 1873-5 with
bricks fired in a local kiln.

I like the Wagon Wheel Bench
 outside the Building.

Greetings from...
COLUMBUS

I am happy to see that Columbus has chosen to preserve and repurpose many of its historic buildings. The choices made here ensure that the City and its residents will continue to grow and thrive here.
