Northeast to Grand Rapids, MN, with Two Stops... The Headwaters of the Mississippi River & Bemidji, Minnesota

 



Eric & I drive US 71 North & Minnesota State Highway 200 Northwest to our first stop...







... to Itasca State Park.






We walk the trail to the headwaters of






Water flows from Lake Itasca into the stream behind us.  Two thousand-plus miles later, this water enters the Gulf of Mexico.





This is the beginning of our drive
 southward along The Great River
 Road southward.









These roads also make up the Lake Country Scenic Byway.












Our next stop is



Today's drive continues on US 2 East.






Cass Lake is known for Muskie fishing.









Eric & I drive through the Chippewa National Forest.
