Another Day Driving Northwest to Belvidere, Illinois

We exit onto Interstate 94 West.






Eric & I follow the road signs....

The ruins of City Methodist Church

Built in 1925 - 6, it closed in 1975.






Since the 2010s there has been discussion of demolishing most of the church, leaving the Sanctuary as the centerpiece of a proposed park. In 2022, the Church continues to deteriorate.

It is 1,450 feet tall (110 stories).




The old road bed is being torn up before new pavement is laid.
