Continuing South to Duncans Mills, California

As the huge storm moves through California, the news is full of reports of mudslides and flooding.  I checked US Route 101 and California State Route 116 on the CALTRANS Highway Conditions Webpage.  There are no reports of weather-related traffic problems on these roads.

The skies are clear, let's drive.

Eric & I return to US 101 South.

That's thick fog...

The fog clears and the skies are bright.

We pass cattle grazing.

Eric slows down.

Fallen debris is being

cleared from the road.

This section of US 101

is in the Tsunami

Hazard Zone.

The Richard Sweasey Building, 

in Eureka was built in 1920.

It houses the Akley Center for

Performing Arts.

taken in Kentucky.

I take a turn behind

the wheel.

I navigate this section of

US 101 lined with Redwoods.

This turn takes us to Old

Redwood Highway.

Eric and I swap seats and he continues driving.

We are in Wine Country.

Eastside Road is lined with fields of Grape Vines.  

There are miles & miles of

Grape Vines.

We turn onto Wohler Road.

Eric drives through water

running across the road.

This is unnerving...  We have to continue on our route.  We're not driving back across that section of road.  

Fields of Grape Vines are

 underwater.

I'm sure the owners are on

the phone with their

insurance companies.

Eric turns onto River Road.

We pass Korbel Champagne

Cellars.

Eric and I loved our Winery Tour and Champagne Tasting in 2014.

We pass a small mudslide.

Electricity is out in Guerneville.

The traffic lights are out & 

drivers are yielding to others.

We drive by Monte Rio

Vacation Wonderland.

Eric turns onto California

State Route 116...

... & arrive in Duncans Mills.

Eric & I are staying at

Duncans Mills Camping

Club while we wait out

the next part of the 

storm.

There's soup for dinner.
