Biking Around Downtown Portland, Oregon

Eric and I are riding our bikes around downtown Portland.  Today's ride will be in the street, on the City's dedicated Bike Lanes, and on pathways.

I am charmed by this narrow
1904 building on South

It's a former Salvation Army.

I caught a snap of this bike
rider from my bike.

I did not stop to closely
examine his bike shorts.

We stop at Kingsland Kitchen
The Brunch Club for a
hearty breakfast.

The USS Oregon's Main Mast
serves as the memorial to the
historic & beloved Battleship
& the "Marines Who Served
Aboard."

Commissioned in 1896, the USS Oregon Battleship, known as the Bull Dog, served in the Spanish-American War and World War I before it was loaned to the State of Oregon, which used the Battleship as a floating monument and convention center.  After the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, the Navy decided to scrap this historic ship.  The Main Mast was saved and became the monument in Waterfront Park.  The rest of the ship was turned into a supply barge and sent, loaded with supplies for Seabees to use in the Pacific campaigns.

Nearby is a memorial to
Nurses who served in the
Spanish-American War.

Eric & I ride our bikes on
the riverside walkway.

I'm glad we are here on a weekday.  This Park must be very busy on weekends.

of the amphitheater to the
riverside stage.

Decorative plants & room for
visitors to sit & enjoy the view

The waterside path takes
Eric & me past businesses
& buildings.

Eric stops to look at the view...

We continue on a dedicated
Bike Lane next to the road.

Portland's Tilikum Crossing,
Bridge of the People.

We wait for the light to change
before crossing the road on
the Bike Lane.

Our ride takes us to another
unmarked paved path.

Waiting at a transit crossing.

Enough photography on the go...  Let's ride!
