Visiting The Seattle Space Needle - Seattle, Washington

Our first glimpse of Seattle

Fun Fact: Eric & I are
driving on a floating bridge.

My first pic of the Seattle

A selfie in front of the Howard S.
base of the Seattle Space Needle

The Howard S. Wright Construction Company built The Space Needle for The Century 21 Exposition in 1962.

Looking straight up at the

Visitors pass by displays with the Space Needle's Construction Timeline.  This project was on a tight timeline because this building is the centerpiece of  The Century 21 Exposition, also known as The 1962 Worlds Fair.

Looking down on a model of the
Space Needle in the Gift Shop.

These are the original colors
of the tower.

Eric and I. along with other visitors, exit the elevator and start taking pictures of the Seattle Skyline.

The three towers in the far distance
stand above Queen Anne Hill.

Settlement on Queen Anne Hill began in the 1850s.  This neighborhood has many historic buildings.

Grey's Anatomy's Dr. Merideth Grey lives in this neighborhood.  For Frasier Fans:  Dr. Frasier Crane lived in a fictional highrise in this section of Seattle.

Visitors sit, stand, do handstands
on the glass benches placed in
front of the Observation
Deck's windows.

A shot of a tanker in Elliott Bay.

Red Gantries are on the left.

I wonder how many ships
enter & leave the Port daily.

Eric stands at the window
& looks straight down.

These oversized flowers remind
 me of Dr. Seuss's artwork.

I see giant Daddy Long Leg
Spiders when I look down.

They are a Marlin Peterson creation.

I stand on the glass flooring.

Feeling tentative because
the floor beneath me
is moving.
customers to arrive to enjoy
 the view with cocktails &
specialty cuisine.

Eric & I get a selfie before
taking the elevator to the
ground floor.

There's a lot to explore within walking distance of the Space Needle.
