We're on the Road Again... Headed West...

Eric & I leave McConchie's Heritage Acres campground to start our drive west...

The open road beckons us...

Solar farms are a common sight in rural areas of New York State.

We follow Interstate 90 signs through Amsterdam.

A shot of the Mohawk River Gateway Overlook Bridge in Amsterdam.

The Thruway entrance at Exit 27

Sensors above the entrance record information from each vehicle that passes beneath, allowing traffic to proceed smoothly onto I 90.

I wonder what happened to the Toll Takers. when the Toll Booths were removed.  The answer is complex: One-third of the 200 full-time Toll Takers are eligible for retirement.  Nine hundred employees are part-time.  An outreach program has been set up to help this group of employees access training and/or education to get another job.

Our drive parallels the Mohawk River.

Construction of the Erie Canal along the river in the early 1800s turned this river into a major trade and travel route.

We drive into a fog bank.

A picturesque shot of the Mowhawk Valley.

Tandem Tractor Trailers are a common sight on the Thruway.

Our first stop is in Syracuse.

This spacious roundabout allows drivers to navigate this busy intersection.

Our motorhome is getting two new front tires at STTC Service Truck Centers.

Our drive west takes us into New York's Central Region.

We are stopping at Batavia for the night.

A Robin watches us park...

... at Walmart.
