The Santa Fe Trail Tracks, West of Dodge City, Kansas

Eric & me at the Santa Fe Trail Tracks

There's lots of room here to park our motorhome.

The US Survey Team's camp: 1825

Oxen-drawn wagons traveled four abreast along the Santa Fe Trail.  If the terrain was muddy, the travelers would veer off the trail and continue across dry ground.

We walk on an elevated path.

Eric & I stop to take pictures of wildflowers just off the path.

Orange Globemallow

Roses have been left at the compass at the end f the walkway.

The Santa Fe Trail Remains
are a National Historic
Landmark.

Eric & I scan for wagon ruts.

They're hard to locate...

Eric and I love stopping at historic sites as we travel the United States.
