Day Thirteen: US 50 East to Vincennes, Indiana

Eric & I drive US 50 East
across Illinois today.

We share this two-lane section
of the  road with cars &
 tractor trailers.

The Breese Water Tower

The City is named for
US Senator Simon Breese.

Small sections of concrete
are being replaced along
this section of US 50 East.

We are in Indiana's
farm country.

Welcome Aboard!
Carlyle

The lake is a popular vacation spot in this region of Illinois.

Eric asked me to take this
picture of geometric shapes
on the side of a building.

Indiana's Norse heritage
is alive & well in Odin.

Salem is the hometown of
orator William Jennings Bryan.

Yellow flowers bloom in
an untilled field.

Speaking of flowers, Eric &
I pass through Flora.

Farm equipment on the move...

This tractor & its trailer are
wider than a single lane.

Watch for Golf Carts

Olney proudly displays an
image of its White Squirrels
 on its banners.

There's a White Squirrel at City Hall, and...

... at Bower Park.

A local eatery features a happy
Squirrel with a slice of pizza.

Roadside mowing

This crop grows with a
a beneath it.

I missed the Welcome to
Indiana sign because I was
focused on this building.

This building is the memorial for George Rogers Clark at the George Rogers Clark National Historical  Park.  The Colonel with his troops and help from French residents captured Fort Sackville from the British to claim this frontier for the United States on February 25, 1779.

Established in 1732

Welcome to Historic Vincennes
Indiana's First City
