Our Drive North to Rachel, Nevada

Spoiler Alert:  This blogpost has a LOT of photos.  Here goes...

Ridgeview RV Resort's
stately driveway gave
us an idea...

Eric drives very slowly
down the driveway to
the road as I take
pictures.

The motorhome advances...

It's time for me to climb in
so we can start our drive
north to Rachel, Nevada.

Eric & I cross the Colorado River into Nevada.

Following the few roads in
this area takes us to
Nevada State Route 163 West.

There's a 7% incline ahead...

We see a vast expanse
 of mountain.

We turn toward Las Vegas...

... on US 95 North.

Rest Area Closed

There's not a lot of services out here...

We are sharing the road with
a bicyclist.

I take way too many pictures of rough-hewn mountains.

That's a large project.

I wonder what it is.

This picture doesn't provide
any clues.

Miles north we pass solar panels.

Could the previous photos
have been the first steps in
creating a giant solar farm?

Our first glimpse of
Las Vegas.

A Franken-Palm Tree

Binion's is dwarfed
by Circa.

Eric & I visited Main Street
Casino as Las Vegas was
shutting down last year.

North to Salt Lake City on
Interstate 15/US 93 North.

Eric & I reenter open country.

I take the wheel for the
the next stretch of road.

Stocking feet is Eric's
signature road trip
photo.

Watch out for Deer
ahead.

I drive through a road
construction site.

The work crew is adding
guide rails.

The next road construction
site is paving a third lane.

It's will probably become
a passing lane

This stretch of roadway was
so long that a Pilot Car
was required.

Greenery erupts in
the desert.

Entering Alamo
Elevation 3,450 feet

We are fueling up at the
Sinclair Gas Station.

Diesel is $3.19 a gallon
here.

A selfie with Dinosaurs & the
Easter-themed hay wagon

Eric fuels us up for the
next leg of our drive.

It's just us & the open road...

Follow the road signs
to Rachel...

... on Nevada State Route
318 North

Approach a Cattle Gate.

We take the left fork onto
Nevada State Route 75 West.

Tourists gather to take selfies
at the Extraterrestrial
Highway sign.

We are 40 miles from
Rachel.

Cattle gather at the fenceline
to eat hay.

Low Flying Aircraft

Human or alien piloted?

This is Open Range.

There are no fences
here.

A cow grazes next to
the road.

Alien graffiti in a boulder.

Let's Get Abducted.

Rachel is out there...

... 20 miles away.

Eric points out the Black Mail Box.

It's become a meeting place
for believers to scan the
skies for UFOs.

Now Open

Gas
Snacks

Eric & I arrive at our destination...

LITTLE A'LE'INN

We are parked in one of the
four RV spots created
for travelers.

We have water and 30 amp electric service and the voltage is good.

Then the rain came...

... for three minutes.
