Riding on the Heritage Rail Trail in York, Pennsylvania

Bike Trails in South Central Pennsylvania are rare.  Eric and I are in the mood to stretch our legs and see some of the area from our bikes.  The Heritage Rail Trail is 27 miles long and runs through part of York.  After finding a place to park our car, we get on our bikes and ride!

Eric rides past historic Golden Plow Tavern...

... past the Old Courthouse where the Continental Congress ratified the Alliance with France on May 4, 1778.

Pal's Park is dedicated to Pal, the World War II War Dog & companion of Sergeant. Arthur Glatfelter.

We ride along Codorus Creek.

Hunger Free York

Railroad tracks run next to the Trail.

This small park is the memorial for Christopher Robert Kress, who was killed here when a car hopped the curb & struck him.

The paved Trail changes to a gravel surface.

I notice the Railroad Switch & the second track that goes off to the right.

We pass a Junk Yard

Some parts of our ride are shaded.

York has Rabbit Transit

I love it!

Eric and I ride our bikes back to our car and set out on foot to explore historic Downtown York.
