Why Eric & I Are Taking a Detour to Moscow, Iowa

Eric & I were settling in at the
 Walmart in Coralville when
 the unexpected happened...

Our hydraulic slide-out system stopped working. Every RVer dreads problems with their slide-outs.

These amazing movable walls
are usually extended when
problems arise.

Columbus, New Mexico

Both slides on the driver's side
are in the out position right
now...

How do we retract the slides?  The hydraulic system must work, OR we must follow a precise set of instructions that involves using tools and lots of time.
We have TWO important Assets to help us:

  1. We are just 40 minutes from Moscow, Iowa, and the HWH Facility.                                       This company manufactures hydraulic jacks and are specialists in RV slide-out technology.  When we get the slides in, we can go to HWH for the needed hydraulic system evaluation and repair.
  2. Randy, Tech Extraordinaire, works at HWH.  He is highly skilled in guiding RVers through hydraulic jack and slide problems by text and by phone.

Eric called HWH and made an appointment for us to have our hydraulic jack/slide-out system examined and repaired the following day AND he and Randy have a phone appointment early tomorrow morning.

Right now all we can do is eat dinner and spend a quiet evening in the motorhome.  As Scarlett O'Hara said, "Afterall... tomorrow is another day..."

Eric & Randy focus on the Hydraulic Pump Relay with bolts on the left.
It's similar to a Solenoid on a car or a truck.

Eric "jump started" the Hydraulic Pump Relay while I pushed the hydraulic slide buttons
to retract the Living Room & Bedroom slides.

Eric starts the motorhome's engine and he and I start the drive to HWH.

We drive east on
Interstate 80 to...

... Moscow &...

... HWH.

Our motorhome goes into the
work bay on the left.

Two hours later, the Relay has been replaced and a blown fuse in the Controller Box was replaced.
