Exploring SE California: The Valley of Names, Northeast of Felicity

Eric & I drive a dirt road...

... past a few RVs...

... to Picacho State
Recreation Area.

Eric "reads" the uneven road &
easily negotiates puddles in
our Honda CR-V.

This cairn shows human
activity...

This section of Southeast California was part of General George S. Patton's Desert Training Center.  Tank crews trained here for the fight in North Africa.  It's believed that soldiers "left their mark" along these hard-packed ridges.

This Smithsonian Article includes a recommends 4 Wheel Drive Vehicles to get here.
Our Honda CR-V had plenty of clearance for the ride.
We didn't drive down into the Valley.

I've included the Valley of
because it has new photos.

This remote area with lots to explore cries out for drone coverage.

My favorite is... BART.

This is a fun drive that can be done easily in an SUV or a truck.  This is a remote area and I recommend bringing water with you.
