Walking Around Rocky Neck, Massachusetts

Rocky Neck is Gloucester's Art Colony.  Since 1850 artists have come to this region to take advantage of the brilliant light that plays on the water.  Winslow Homer and Edward Hopper are two of the many artists who came here to paint.  Favorite subjects are nature, regional architecture and fishing.

Surrounded by water, Rocky
Neck is home to many boats.

This house takes up the
entire corner on this
block.

Houses are renovated,
not torn down.

As you can see, the lighting and reflections in the cove continue to draw artists.
