Viewing the Partial Solar Eclipse in Rotterdam, N.Y. on August 21, 2017

Eric and I were not prepared to view the August 21st Partial Solar Eclipse in Rotterdam, New York. Because we weren't traveling to one of the many sites across our country to see the Total Eclipse, we forgot to purchase Eclipse Glasses, until it was too late.

There were no glasses to be found, anywhere in the Capital District, and they were on back order at Amazon.com.  Eric checked the internet and found out that Number 14 Welders Glass can be used.  I started calling area Welding Supply stores, in hopes of purchasing a piece of glass, to no avail.

Fortunately, I am related to a welder.  My brother, Stan, gave us Welders Glass to use for the Eclipse. He's awesome!

Eric mounted the Welders Glass in a cereal box
& added instructions.

Lots of instructions.

Mounted in the cereal box, we have extra protection from the sun's rays during the Eclipse.

Eric views the start of
the Eclipse from
Jerry's porch.

Jerry watches the "Moon
eat the Sun."

She asks about the next Eclipse. On April 8, 2024 a solar eclipse will start in Mexico and move north east.  The path of the full eclipse will cross western New York, northeast New York and northern Vermont in 2024. Mark you calendars!
