The Altamont Free Library in Altamont, New York

The Altamont Free Library
is located in the village's
historic train station.

Pamphlets & brochures
are displayed in the
small library's entry.

The sign over the bow
window is from the
original library at
Beebe's Harness Shop.

Bookshelves have been
specially built to fit the
train station's wall space.

The bookshelves in the
library proper were
built with wheels so
they can be moved.

Small libraries often don't have space for programs.  Movable shelves gives this library lots of flexibility to host children's and adult programs.

This brightly colored quilt
celebrates reading.

Young readers show
their growth over
time.

And there's room to remember
the railroad & its importance
to Altamont throughout
 the years.

This library is just a little larger than the space in the basement of Key Bank.  The light shining in the windows makes the space feel larger.  Movable book shelves around allows the Alamont Library to make the most of its space to serve the public.
