Touring Niagara College's Teaching Winery in Niagara Falls, Canada

Niagara College Canada
Niagara-on-the-Lake
Campus has a Teaching
Winery.

The Teaching Winery grows
grapes for winemaking.

Center.
The Winery and Viticulture Technician Program was established in 2000, and students came to learn. Each class of 25 to 30 students learns from established winemakers.  In 2008 the Wine Business Management Program was started to provide students with the business skills and practice experiences necessary to successfully run  winery operations.

Local grapes are used in
all the wines made here.

Jams & Jellies are made with
 locally grown grapes.

the vineyards & enjoy a

Emma welcomes us &
tells us about this
region's winemaking.

Grafted grape vines are
ready to be planted.

Each year there is some "renewal" of grape vines.  Damaged or diseased vines are removed and replaced with vines.

Individual grapes are separated
from leaves & stems in this
machine.

The mechanized wine press.

This process takes a lot less time than stomping grapes.  Here's a link, with Lucille Ball.

Grapes are fermented in
steel tanks & aged in
Oak barrels.
