Off Roading on the Gray Eagle Mine Trail in Parker, Arizona

The Gray Eagle Mine
Trail marker

Eric is consults our GPS as he makes decisions on what turns to take on this windy off road trail.

Just 3.6 miles long, the trail
winds around Billy Mack
Mountain.

I am fascinated by the
red topped hills
beyond the trail.

This section of the trail
is heavily rutted.

A UTV is parked on a
ridge off the trail.

Wooden remnants of
 a mining operation.

Large rocks rise up from
the trail.

Eric negotiates them easily
in our 2012 Jeep Wrangler.

The grey sand changes
hue to red.

Iron oxidizes, causing
the rock it's embedded
in to turn red.

The Grey Eagle Mining Trail returns us to Cienega Springs Road.

We have about four miles
 to go before we hit
 pavement.

Eric turns onto Arizona
State Route 95 for our
south into Parker.
