Breaking Bad's Albuquerque, New Mexico, Season 1

Eric and I are Breaking Bad fans.  We were hooked from the pilot episode.  Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher, has just received a cancer diagnosis.  It's bad... very bad.  He wants to make money fast to secure his family's future.  While on a ride along with his brother-in-law, DEA Agent Hank Schrader, Walter sees one of his former students fleeing a meth lab bust.  Walt and Jesse Pinkman will cook meth and Walt will make enough money to take care of his family's future.

There are several ways to tour Breaking Bad film locations in Albuquerque.  Breaking Bad RV Tours is three hour long, offers interactive 17 and 20 film location tours in a 1986 Fleetwood Bounder that include a stop at Twisters, aka Los Pollos Hermanos for $75.00 per person.  I assume that they run film clips for each location visited.  Do-it-yourselfers can get addresses of film sites on several websites and plot a course around Albuquerque to see the Breaking Bad locations.

Eric and I are do-it-yourselfers.  We opt for Google maps and the GPS to explore Breaking Bad's Albuquerque.

Season One film locations are often repeated as the series progresses.

Walt & Skyler White's House

****Update:  According to an October 14, 2017 Newsday article, the owners of the house used as Walter and Skylar White's home on Breaking Bad are putting up a six  fence to ensure their privacy.  This house is a fan's photo op delight and BB fans are roaming the front yard taking pictures and selfies, while ordering the owners around.

Marie & Hank Shrader's
House is on a cul-de-sac.

Walt teaches at Rio Rancho

Car Wash is Walt's

Things change...

Jesse's Aunt Ginny's house...

A lot happens here as the
years go by.

Albuquerque is a great place to stage a TV series.  The city covers 189 square miles with a population of just over half a million.  Sections of the city vary, a lot, in architecture and types of businesses.  The neighborhoods were built at different times, have different architectural styles and are in different states of repair.  A city this is big enough to have everything that film and production crews could need to create a multi season TV show.

exterior was turned into a
clothing shop during
Season 1.

The Dog House shows up
in Seasons 1 & 2.

Hank refers to the
Crossroads Motel as
"The Crystal Palace."

Hookers & meth heads
use this motel throughout
the Breaking Bad series.

The bland, unassuming
doubles as Tuco's
headquarters.

And, boom... on to Season 2.
