Walking Around the Grounds of the Kansas Statehouse in Topeka, Kansas

First, a prelude to the Kansas Statehouse grounds...

Eric & I get a peek of the
Statehouse Dome, beyond
this eclectically painted
building.

The dome was renovated during a recent restoration project.

Kansas has 4 hour parking
for visitors in a nearby
parking lot.

This is very welcoming.

The dome, sitting atop the
two storied column reminds
me of the Connecticut
State Capitol.

Construction on the Statehouse took 37 years, starting in 1866 and ending in 1903.

Eric & I wander through
the Farmers Market on
the south side of the
Statehouse.

This is a great name for
a food truck.

Green Beans, Onions

Eric and I browsed, but didn't make any purchases.  It's 85 degrees Fahrenheit and our car is sitting in the sun, heating up.  It is not the place to store fresh baked goods or fruit and vegetables while we tour the Statehouse.

of the Statehouse grounds.

The east wing is the oldest
section of the Statehouse.

Legislators started meeting
here in 1870.

again.
The Statehouse grounds are lovely.  Shopping at the Farmers Market and being surrounded by Monarch Butterflies are unexpected bonuses.
