Strolling Around Southbridge Mall in Mason City, Iowa

Southbridge Mall is located
in downtown Mason City.







In the 1970s, Mason City voters approved construction of this mall in their downtown. Southbridge Mall opened in 1985.

 multi-level mall.

J.C. Penney is

closed.

There are a lot of empty stores in this mall.  It reminds me of Rotterdam Square Mall in Rotterdam, New York.  That ailing mall was recently purchased and the new owners are planning construction of an aquarium and a Family Activity Area.

Like many malls,
Southbridge is
struggling.







Plans have been developed to renovate part of this downtown mall.  A performing arts pavilion and 2,400 seat arena will be built in the new space.
