Walking Around Genesee Country Village & Museum in Mumford, New York






Today, we visit Genesee Country







Over forty building have been moved from counties in Western New York to Mumford to create the Country Village.

The 19th century bandstand
is in the distance.









I am fascinated by the elevated
 bandstand & imagine people in
Victorian clothing strolling
 nearby.


Civil War encampment with a  Hydrogen balloon
Balloons were used for reconnaissance
 during the war.






St. Feehan's Roman Catholic 
Church was built in 1854.

Thomson's Tavern & Store
was built around 1807.

Romulus Female Seminary
was built in 1855.

girls school with visitors.

The Shaker Trustee's Building
was built in 1839.







Mother Ann Lee, founder of the Shaker Movement, is buried in a Shaker Cemetery in Colonie, New York.






Shakers sold seeds, herbs &
 floral waters in the 1800s.










The Jones Farmhouse was
built in 1820.

Additions were built in
the 1830s.

was built in 1854.







Quakerism is a Protestant sect that emerged out of the Protestant Reformation in Europe.  Quakers arrived in America in the 1700s.

Eric and I had a great time walking around Genesee Country Village and learning about the 19th century in Western New York.
