There's A Problem with the Wide Load Tractor Trailer on the Klondike Highway....

What is this oversize tractor
trailer doing in our lane?

He's backing into a
side road.

Eric talks to the driver of the lead truck who tells us that the group missed the turn onto Route 4 (Robert Campbell Highway) in Carmacks.

Uhh ohh....  I think the
truck is stuck....

The road is now blocked to all traffic.  It's obvious to us that the tractor trailer can't back up any farther.  If it can get unstuck, it has to continue north to look for a  large pull off so it can turn around and head south to Route 4 junction.

I have our Milepost Guide open on my lap.  Retracing our drive, I find the Five Finger Rapids Recreation Site at 380 K on Route 2 (Klondike Highway) .  I remember that it is large and has driveways at each end.  Eric looks over what I found and walks up to the lead truck to tell the driver about this pull off.  It's about 12 kilometers north of where we are sitting.

The tractor trailer strains to
free itself from the side road
it bottomed out on & is now
headed north.

The members of the crew
return to their vehicles.

The road is now clear to traffic traveling north and south.  Eric looks at his watch.  We've been stopped for a half hour.

Having done our good deed for the day, Eric and I decide to stop at Coal Mine Campground and Canteen to get another cup of coffee.  (It's a cup of coffee type day...) and stretch our legs.
