The Hoover Dam Powerplant Tour... Billions of Kilowatt Hours Are Generated Here

Eric bought tickets for the Powerplant Tour at Hoover Dam.  After watching a film that provides an overview of the dam's construction, we went to the elevators and headed down to the powerplant.

We walk down tunnels to
the Powerplant.

Flashing was added to keep
drips of water off workers
& visitors.

Our guide shows us a map
of the structures of the dam.

Seven turbines generate 4.5 billion
for Southern California, Arizona
 & Southern Nevada.

The green crane above the turbines
is original to the Powerplant.

The original turbines have been replaced.

generates electricity to run
Hoover Dam's lights
& equipment.

It's very quiet here.  Water generated electricity is clean and quiet.

This terrazzo floor has
designs reminding visitors

of Hoover Dam's
southwest location.

The water that turns the turbines to generate electricity is released into the Colorado River.
