Our Plans Change When We Find Out Some of the Roads Are Icy

Eric & I left Big Bend National
Park and headed toward
McDonald Observatory in
Fort Davis, Texas.

The sky is grey today.

We drive the
Texas Mountain Trail.

We enjoy the changing
scenery.

A Park Ranger at Barton
Warnock Visitors Center
tells us that the roads are
icy near Fort Davis.

It's time for a change of plans.  We'll stay at a rest area near Marfa or Alpine tonight and head for El Paso tomorrow morning.

We are driving Farm Road 170
 close to the Mexican border.

A US Border Control truck is
parked at the side of the road.

These picnic sites are neat!

A section of the Rio Grande
Valley lies below.

Eric stops at an overlook.

We continue west along
the Mexican border.

This is a new sign...

After we drive through
Presidio, we turn north.

Eric drives carefully as we
head north to Marfa.

We pass a US Border Patrol
check point.

And arrive at Marfa,
population: 2.121.
