The Texas State Capitol
was completed in 1888.
Designed by Elijah E. Myers,
the exterior is Sunset Red
granite quarried fifty miles
from the Capitol.
Texas fun facts: The State of Texas traded 3 million acres of land in the Texas Panhandle for the funds to build the State Capitol. The Capitol was built by migrants and convicts.
The star in the center of
the dome is 8 feet across.
The six seals of Texas include
Mexican Texas, the Republic
& the State of Texas.
