The Johnson Ranch aka The Texas White House

part of the National Parks

A tree lined drive takes us
onto the Johnson Ranch.

Deer are resting
along the fence line.

Hereford cattle are raised
on this ranch.

Here's a section of
the landing strip.

It seems that there are
cows everywhere.

The airstrip was essential
during Johnson's presidency.

President Johnson spent about 25% of his time at the "Texas White House" during his administration.

The President ran the country
from his ranch & enjoyed
his family while working.

LBJ's all-terrain vehicle
included a wet bar.

A Park Ranger gave us
a tour of the house.

Photos aren't allowed
in the home.

Touring the house was a very intimate experience.  The Johnsons' life here was very comfortable and complicated.  President Johnson had a phone everywhere, including his bathroom.  Lady Bird's bedroom is as she left it, with photos of beloved family and friends everywhere.

hangar that covers
