The CARE Center at Rainbow's End RV Park in Livingston, Texas

The CARE Center was formed as a not for profit agency in 1992.  There are thirty-five campsites available for Escapee members to age-in-place, to stay on site while recovering from illness, while going to outpatient rehabilitation at a local rehab center.

The monthly fee for an individual is $849.00 per month, or $1,275 per month for two people.

CARE campsites come
with a concrete slab,
 shed & phone line.

Services include:  three meals and snacks every day, housekeeping and laundry services, assistance with dumping tanks and propane delivery, transportation, weekly shopping trips and access to Adult Day Care.

This unique aging-in-place area was included in the 2013 US News & World Report's Seven Most Unusual Places to Retire article.

Adult Day Care costs $36.00 per day.  Services include: a nurse who monitors clients' health, monitors medications and administers injections, assistance with personal care and exercise.

The Alzheimer's Unit opened in 1993.  In addition to services provided for Adult Day Care, simple games, picture books and reminiscing are a big part of the day.  Staff operate doors with security codes, keeping clients safe.  A door is open to an enclosed garden for clients to enjoy.

There's a lot going on here AND the CARE Center welcomes Escapees from all over the Rainbow's End Park.  Russ Johnson, CARE Facility Director gives tours to educate Escapee members.  He expects Escapee members to share what they've learned and spread the word about CARE.

Let's take a look inside...

Clients, volunteers & guests
eat three meals a day in the
dining room.

Take out is available for clients
who prefer to eat at home.

Comfortable seating for
visiting, reading,
watching TV.

A well stocked library
is available.

Health related brochures
for caregivers & family.

The CARE Center has
 Weekly Vespers, open
to all Escapees in the Park.

Pearl's Place was built in 2005
to serve multiple purposes.

Clients receive assistance while
the caregiver is away or, an
Escapee comes to CARE without
an RV & stays at in this cottage
while receiving rehab services
at a local rehab center.

So, how can all these services be provided at rates 50% or more less than Assisted Living facilities? The CARE Center relies on volunteers giving one month of service to clients. Volunteers I've talked with tell me their experiences are very fulfilling.  Many return year after year to assist clients and contribute to the CARE Program.  As a not for profit agency, CARE accepts donations from Escapee Chapters and individuals to serve Escapee members in need of these unique services.
