Escapees RV Club RVers' Boot Camp: Day Two

Today's topics include: RV Systems, Part 2, RV Weight and Load Management. Personal Safety for RVers. Fire and Life Safety,  and Ask a Full-timer Round Table.

Mark Nemeth started
RV Systems, Part 2
with the search for
phantom loads.

He reviewed water conservation
while boondocking.

Can I use this toilet paper
in my RV?

Mark's answer is to put a
few squares in a container
of water, shake it & see if
the paper dissolves.

Use only toilet paper that
dissolves in water.

grey or black water from
an RV to a dump station.

Appropriate tire pressure
is an essential part of
RV maintenance & safety.

Jim Koca did the heavy lifting on
RV weight & weight distribution.

Many of us will have our RVs
weighed at SmartWeigh before
leaving Rainbow's End RV Park.

Jim covered a lot of topics in the Personal Safety section.  Even though RVing is a very safe past time, everyone should be aware of personal safety issues and take steps to stay safe.  RV security involves deterring crime.  Lock the RV and car.  Motion detector lights are a good idea.  RVers with dogs have built in alarm systems.  Selecting a safe campground is central to feeling safe and having a good experience.  Jim recommends All Stays Campground App and RV Parks Review website when making campground selections.

We watched the Fire & Life
Safety Presentation by

The Livingston Fire Department
came & provided us with
practical experience putting
out fires.

Students used fire
extinguishers to put
out fires.

Chef Mark is hard at work
grilling our dinner.

Ask a Full-timer Round Table
followed.

Selected couples had two
minutes to talk about what
they like about full-time RVing.

After their introductions,
we got down to topics
everyone talks about.

Full-time RVers have found different
work experiences, phone & mail
services, vehicle, RV & health
insurance coverage.

There's lots of information
to share.

Our evening ended at the
campfire.
