The Arkansas State Capitol in Little Rock

This Neoclassical style
building was designed by
George Mann.

The chandelier has been lowered
to the first floor while the rotunda
 is under restoration.

The Arkansas
State Seal

Two of the Capitol's six
bronze doors.

The doors were bought for
$10,000.00 & are now valued
at $3,000,000.00

The Governor's
Reception Room

A skylight illuminates one
of the two grand staircases.

The former State Supreme Court

The court is now housed
in its own building.

The Senate Chamber

The chandelier is a smaller
version of the one in the rotunda.

Drapes secured to the ribs
of the skylight help with
acoustics of the chamber.

The House of Representatives
also has a skylight.

As we've seen at other state capitols we've visited, restoration and/or repair projects are necessary to keep the peoples's house in working order.

The Arkansas State Capitol is a beautiful building, rich in history sitting majestically on
a hill, dominating this section of Little Rock.
