Lunch with Vicki at Chef Point Cafe in Watauga, Texas

One of the fun things about traveling is reconnecting with family friends.  Our daughter, Diane, and Vicki were friends throughout their school years and beyond.  I contacted Vicki and offered to take her out to lunch, so we could catch up on things.

Eric drove past Chef Point Cafe
because it's located at a
gas station.

I love the story behind this restaurant - Paula and Franson couldn't get a loan to open a restaurant because of high failure rates of restaurants in the area.  They could get a loan to open a gas station, so they opened one and built a restaurant as well.

Since they opened Chef Point Cafe in 2003, the restaurant outgrew the original building configuration. The convenience store was downsized and the restaurant continues to flourish.

The local press has written extensively about Chef Point Cafe.  It was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on April 6, 2009

There are gas additives
for sale.

Don't forget to pick up
your favorite candy bar.

Chef Point's bar
includes local beers.

Here I am with Vicki.

Thanks Vicki, for recommending Chef Point Cafe.  It's got a great story, great service
and great food. This is the first restaurant we've been to that's been on Diners, Drive-Ins
and Dives.
