The Winery at the Biltmore Estate

Wine making at the Biltmore Estate started in the 1970.  Let's see what the wine makers have created.

Eric at the Winery

Room has numerous
Tasting Stations.

Taylor guides us through the
wine tasting.
There are twenty wines
available to sample.
No, we didn't taste all of them.

We met Kathy while sipping wines.  She and her husband owned A Better Mousetrap, a wine shop in Manchester, Vermont years ago.  Kathy was sampling wines to recommend for a niece's wedding.  She bought bottles for her niece and her fiance to taste with the menu they are creating for the reception.  I hope they like her choices.  Eric and I selected a few bottles of wine to take with us.

Downstairs from the winery
there are casks of wine.

There are displays of
Biltmore Wines.

The Biltmore Wine Library
has hundreds of wine bottles
dating back to the Winery's
beginning in 1970.

These Sparkling Wines
are being Riddled to move
sediments into the necks of
the bottles.

Disgorgement includes freezing
the bottle stems, so the
sediment plugs can be
removed from the bottles.

It is one of 10 of this model
known to be in existence.

We've had a busy day at Deer Antler Village.  We rode our bikes along the French Broad River, toured the Farm, walked the Village and visited the Biltmore Legacy Display, ate lunch at The Bistro, sampled wines, toured the Wine Cellar and saw the 1913 Steven-s Duryea Touring Car.  It's time to head back the SKP ACRE 2013 Rally at Tom Johnson Camping Center.
