View from the Sunsphere in Knoxville, Tennessee

This is the Sunsphere.
It was built for the
1982 World's Fair.

The World's Fair started on May 1, 1982 an ended on October 31, 1982.
Eleven million people visited the  fair and its many exhibits.

On our way to the tower,
Eric stops to speak to
a surveyor.

We took the elevator to the fourth floor observation deck.  Hours from April through October are 9 am to 10 pm.  November through March the hours are 11 am to 6 pm.  There's no entry fee.  This is great!

These photos have a bluish
cast because of some sort
of coating on the glass.

I wonder what the cranes
are needed for.

This looks like a
busy city.

I wonder about the businesses
located by the river.

I see mountains in
the distance.

That clock tower is an interesting
juxtaposition between the
two glassy finished buildings.

Like all cities, an elevated
highway runs through it.

Eric and I have had a look at the city from above.  It's time to hit the streets and investigate downtown Knoxville.
