Four Wheeling Fun In Western North Carolina

Eric asked Travis at Stonebridge Campground about local trails where we can go four wheeling.  There are trails off the Blue Ridge Parkway, east of Cherokee.

We've looked for gravel
roads & dirt roads in our
travels around Western NC,
only to find gates &
private road signs.

This gravel road is fun.

We are driving along the
edge of the mountain.

There are switchbacks
on this road.

Someone brought in
ATVs or dirt bikes to
ride the trails.

We turned on to a rutted
tract covered with leaves.

Some parts are muddy.

Looking up the mountain

Eric is watching for
sharp rocks as we drive.
No one wants to change
a flat tire on a trail.

I'm doing  my part...

getting photos of
our drive.

We turn on to a less
used trail.

It ends in a clearing.

We are close enough to see
a car on the Parkway.

I see the side of a tunnel
through the trees.

We return to the
gravel road.

We are not alone....

The grey truck we saw earlier
brought in ATVs.

Back on the Parkway...
We had a fun drive!
