The Beginning of Our Freightliner Experience...

Coming to Gaffney, South Carolina is like coming home.  The foundation of our motorhome was made here at the Freightliner Custom Chassis Plant.  A strong foundation makes for a quality motorhome and a quality lifestyle as we live in and enjoy our 2004 Winnebago Vectra.

Our tour of the plant is scheduled for Wednesday.  Our motorhome goes to the Service Shop for a multi-point inspection on Thursday.  Eric and I will attend Camp Freightliner on Thursday and Friday to learn as much as possible about our chassis.

Our motorhome chassis
was built at this plant in
Gaffney, South Carolina
on March 31, 2003.

Completed chassis are waiting
for transport to factories to
become trucks, school buses
 or motorhomes.

Eric and I were in a group of eight that had an hour long tour on the Freightliner factory floor.  Terry Belue, Jr. was our tour guide.  He has worked for Freightliner for fifteen years and asked line workers to tell our group of four about their work. Sorry, no pics. Freightliner chassis construction is proprietary.

Next, we went to the
Service Department
building.

Eric & Pat, the receptionist,
complete  paperwork for
tomorrow's chassis checkup.

The Service Department has a
comfortable Waiting Room with
coffee, snacks.

Tomorrow morning, we drop off our motorhome at the Service Department
and go to Camp Freightliner to learn everything there is to know about
our Freightliner chassis, the complex foundation of our motorhome.
