Historic Selma, Alabama

After we walked the Edmund Pettus Bridge and saw the Civil Rights Memorial Park we started walking the streets near the Alabama River.

We were in the middle of the Selma Historic District.  Here are some photos.

We stopped and chatted with
David Hurlbut.  He told us that
this building is the Harmony Club,
a Jewish Men's Club built in 1909.

The Vineyard Restaurant is
located on the first floor.

I was excited to see
gingerbread on
houses.

There are several homes
with this style of porch

Partially obscured by
Spanish Moss laden
trees, this beautifully
painted house graces
the street.

Museum

Selma has the largest Historic District in Alabama and is the second
oldest city in the state.
